Santa has Come to Town...

Asher really wasn't a Scrooge, although you'd never know it from looking at this picture!

Grant got Despicable Me from Santa and couldn't resist being a Minion...

And turning his son into one as well!

Asher made a haulin'!

We have survived our 1st Christmas! We have had many Christmases this year in order to fit in the entire family. Asher is SO blessed to have so many people that love him! Happy Christmas!!!

Sweet Kisses

Asher got to hang out with his cousin Evan at Thanksgiving. From what I hear, Evan is very particular about who he gives kiddes to and Asher made the list. I was lucky enough to be there to capture the whole thing on camera...Asher needs to work on his manners:)

Thanksgiving Adventures!

New family pic!
So cute!
Smiling at poppy :)
Thanksgiving at Granny's house.

We had a super busy Thanksgiving Break. The Saturday before T-day we loaded up the car (complete with Nonny who had been staying with us keeping Asher:)) and headed to Hamilton to hang out with Great Granny and the Rice family. It was fun with all the cousins...And I think Granny enjoyed herself too.

We then came back to Roanoke for a party, and then off we went to Abilene for Thanksmas! The Garrett's are going to be in Germany this Christmas so we celebrated a bit early. SO MUCH FUN! We also took some family pictures for the Christmas cards. I'm posting my fav.

Hopefully I will get Christmas posts up before the end of the month!

Halloween

Halloween was so much fun! Asher was a vampire (Eddy Munster style complete with widow's peak) and we passed out candy from lawnchairs set up on our neighbor's drive way. BTW, glow braclets are a fun alternative to candy. I couldn't decide which costume to use because my awesome sis gave Asher several cute options. He didn't like the pumpkin:)

Asher Goes to Church

Today Asher made his long overdue first trip to church. He was AWESOME!!! (although he did sleep through the whole thing instead of actively listening:)). I'm starting to think that Grant and I might be too loud at home because nothing caused him to stir, not the music, the clapping, or the random volume increase to make a point. Afterward we went to Babies R Us and picked out a new carseat (the old one isn't safe anymore since the car accident), then we went to Grant's old valet office to get his last paycheck, and THEN we went and ate at Spring Creek BBQ...And Asher was AMAZING!!! Then home. YAY!!! Great day.

The Big Wah

Asher and I ventured to Round Rock this weekend for a fun family visit. The trip down was great! We stopped twice for a snack (Asher's, not mine) and made it in 3.5 hours. The way home was a totally different experience. We stopped in Belton, Troy, Waco, and again in Burleson. It took us 5.5 hours to get home and Asher wailed the entire time (except for a peaceful 20 minutes right before we exited I 35 for the house). He HATES being in his carseat. Any hints as to how to help him chill? He was fed, had a clean diaper, was burped (and spit up) and was not being pinched by the harness. Grant was ready to take him when I pulled in the driveway...go teamwork!

Bath Time!!! (and the Gators)

So our first attempt at bath time was SUPER stressful and I totally forgot to take pictures (I know, bad mommy), BUT I got second round! Asher, apparently, does not like the water...but I'm not posting the big wahhh pictures because his little boy parts are showing:)

Speaking of water, Grant and Asher watched their third Florida game today. Last week Asher slept thru the game, but this week he and his Daddy wore their matching Gator Gear and cheered on their team! I, personally, think it's a bit sad that my son ALREADY has a TV addiction and will actually WATCH the "idiot box".

Overachiever and the Elusive Smile

So I'm pretty sure everyone thinks that their child is the smartest ever, but I really think Asher might be the most over achieving bambino of all time. The boy turned one month today and he is rockin' the milestones. He has been holdong his head up solo for, well, for about a month; I swear he came out holding his head up, but I was slightly drugged. Anyway, so head holding up.. check. Then he has been turning his head during tummy time for about 2 1/2 weeks...check. Then this past week our brilliant child started turning his head WITH the paci in his mouth. Nicely done!

Also, does anyone know how to make a newborn smile for the camera? Asher smiles all the time...especially when he is tinkling on me when I change his diaper! I try to capture his precious little grin on camera, but I can't seem to get it on film. I posting some of my favorite attempts...

ALSO, we took four generation pictures with Grant's Oma today...FUN! Donna brought her to our house along with Lindy and Maddy. Dan was already here, John and Kim came in from Plano, and Grant's Uncle John came up from Arlington. It was a virtual Garrett Family reunion! The only one missing was Mack, who had to work in Abilene. Oma was HYSTERICAL with Asher. She just talked and talked to him and he talked back...in a fabulous baby way!

Asher

Two weeks ago we were blessed with the birth of our newest family member, Asher. He is absolutely amazing! We are slowly blogging and posting pics of him around the web. He was born on the 25th of August at 7:20 in the evening. He weighed in at a whopping nine pounds ten ounces, measuring a comfortable twenty-one and one half inches long. He fought tooth and nail to stay in the comfortable home that was Kendra's uterus. We are VERY excited that he has joined us! We will post more pics and attempt to blog more throughout the coming months! Thank you for joining us in our latest adventure!

8-9-10 and still no baby!

I have been wanting an 8-9-10 birth-day since we found out we were preggers...I worked my BUTT off yesterday at home (with Grant's help) trying to pop this bambino out to no avail. Maybe I can get it to come out today. Cross fingers!

Summer School and working hard!

So I really am not as good at this as I meant to be. Maybe when the baby gets here I will be better (what with all the extra time I will have:)). We have made it to Week 32, and all is well. I start my once every 2 weeks appointments tomorrow...I'll keep you posted on how things go.
This summer is already SUPER busy. I am teaching summer school (4 preps: World Geo, World History, Gov't AND Econ), and Grant is teaching a homebound student AND valeting at the airport. The Goal: save up for baby while we can!
We have been on the receiving end of two BEAUTIFUL baby showers...this little bug is well loved already!!
Post pics soon!

Baby G's Last Pictures

Today was our last sono. All is well. Baby has the correct number of heart chambers and all the right pieces of their brain. I, personally, think it has a GIANT brain, which of course means it will be a genius, but that was not confirmed by the doc.

We won't see the bambino again until D-Day, which according to the sono lady might be a smidge earlier than originally thought! I am measuring at 23 and a little weeks. OH, and baby weighs in at 1 lb, 4 oz. Doc said that baby is already looking big...joy. But Healthy!!!

I'll post the picture as soon as I can get it scanned...

The husband

So, I'm the husband, Grant. I figure I'll post something here since my wife has not gotten on the ball with the blogging. We have just started the second trimester of our pregnancy, and praise God everything is still excellent. We are praying for a strong, healthy baby; strong, healthy mom; safe, pain-less delivery; and, that breastfeeding work well for us and baby. We are going to be begging, borrowing, and stealing as much of your stuff as we can, so get ready for the calls!

We are so very excited, and looking forward to the challenges that lie ahead! Thank you for your prayers and congratulations!!
